One of the most practical ways of transforming a life in Bulembu is to create sustainable jobs within the community. Bulembu places a strong emphasis on economic development and has already created over 450 jobs since 2006 through the creation of core enterprises and city administration. We are continually evaluating new business opportunities and seeking funding to launch them in order to create even more jobs and economic stimulus.
Each enterprise is part of our charity and their surplus or income flows to Bulembu's Economic Development Fund, which is used to launch new businesses and provide small loans to community members. (To view a visual diagram of our sustainability model, please click here...)
The following is a brief list of enterprises we intend to launch in 2008 and 2009. Click on each one for an overview of the opportunity. Business plans are available on request.
We invite you to invest into the PRODUCTIVITY and financial sustainability of Bulembu by donating needed start up funds for local enterprise ventures. Click here to donate.
The beauty and serenity of Bulembu attracts hundreds of tourists a year. The lodge has seen significant growth since its small beginnings in 2006. It has expanded its room capacity to now offer rates for campers, backpackers and our standard 3-star accommodation services. The business has been profiting nearly USD 10,000 every quarter and is preparing for expansion with the creation of the Bulembu Conference Centre.
Bulembu Honey is also one of the original enterprises in Bulembu. The property lends itself to great terrain for bee-rearing and the potential of expansion is enormous. The enterprise started in January 2007 and is now entering its first season of honey production. The overall goal of Bulembu Honey is to empower Swazi entrepreneurs through creating jobs and producing organic, high quality honey.
Bulembu Timber is one of the key enterprises able to drive the revitalization of Bulembu and, as such, serves as an example of an enterprise able to create jobs and surplus for the community. The Bulembu property has a timber plantation of over 1,700 acres, with which a full-feasability study has been completed to ensure that our tonnage of tree harvesting is sustainable.
