Bulembu Timber

Bulembu Timber is one of the key enterprises able to drive the revitalization of Bulembu and, as such, serves as an example of an enterprise able to create jobs and surplus for the community. The Bulembu property has a timber plantation of over 1,700 acres, with which a full-feasability study has been completed to ensure that our tonnage of tree harvesting is sustainable.

The future outlook for Bulembu Timber is promising. Since 2006  the business  has grown in the following ways:

 

• Created over 450 jobs at the sawmill and contractors
• Tripled its monthly production to over 2,000 tons a month
• Increased monthly truckloads from 20 to nearly 40.
• Currently exporting nearly USD 250,000 worth of product, netting a profit of over USD 50,000 a month.
