Bulembu Profiles: Mancoba Shongwe
“My desire to worship is the gift that God has given me.”
We want to introduce you to Bulembu Community Church intern Mancoba Shongwe. He graduated from Bulembu Christian Academy High School and has been working at the church since. His time is split between admin duties and worship team involvement. He is an accomplished drummer who has been playing for almost ten years. He sat down with Rachel Smart for an interview to find out more about his plans for the future.
Mancoba Shongwe: A True Worshipper
RS: So what does a normal week look like for you?
MS: I usually prepare the song sheets for Sunday’s worship session and assist the admin staff with paperwork and some church maintenance.
RS: What do you enjoy most about your work?
MS: I actually enjoy the paperwork! I like typing and working on stage design, and practicing the drums for the worship service. Sometimes the songs need to be transposed so I enjoy learning how to do that.
RS: That’s great! You seem to be busy doing things you enjoy, what are your future plans after your internship?
MS: I really want to be in full-time ministry. I’ve been playing drums for the worship team since 2010, and I’ve always wanted to be involved in worship, it’s what God has given me as a gift. My role as a musician on the worship team is helping me discover how to make that possible.
RS: That’s great, Mancoba! Thanks for the interview, and all the best in your future!
